"Maps + Compass" Feature with Augmented Reality - iPhone
On August 18, 2011, the US Patent & Trademark Office published a patent application from Apple that reveals one of the next chapters for Apple's "Map + Compass" iOS feature. In the future, you'll be able to capture an intersection on your iPhone's camera and do a search based on that image. If you're looking for the Golden Gate Bridge while visiting San Francisco, Apple's Maps + Compass feature will be able to superimpose the directions from your current location to where you want to go. It will include turn by turn instructions according to Apple's documentation. (from patently apple)

Near Field Communications (NFC)
NFC allows a device, usually a mobile phone, to collect data from another device or NFC tag at close range. In many ways, it’s like a contactless payment card that is integrated into a phone. In other ways, it’s similar to Bluetooth, except that instead of programming two devices to work together, they can simply touch to establish a connection. (from www.mashable.com)

Origin Of Wireless Technology
Sir Jagadish Chandra Bose:
If you think Marconi as the inventor of wireless technology, this is the right place to prove yourself wrong. The documents listed below are a classic and the paper published by Dr. P. K. Bondopadhyay IEEE is a must read for every wireless engineer which tells you more than the truth.
Here is a quick summary if you are not into reading: (the info here is a direct extract from bose_real_inventor.pdf article listed below)
1. In 1895 Bose gave his first public demonstration of electromagnetic waves, using them to ring a bell remotely and to explode some gunpowder.
2. April 27 1899, J. C. Bose reads his paper, “On a Self Recovering Coherer and study of cohering action of different materials” at the Royal Society, UK. He clearly talks about his invention of coherers using conductors separated by mercury.
3. December 1901: Marconi receives transatlantic waves using an autocoherer. Marconi claims that it was gifted to him by L. Solari, his childhood friend and called it ‘Italian Navy Coherer’.
What is a Coherer?
A Coherer is a device which to detect the RF signals from a receiving antenna and a auto coherer was then used after coherer which converts RF down to DC for running a printer to print the Morse code.
Why did Sir Bose not fight for patent rights like Marconi, Lodge, Castelli or Solari who claim to have invented Coherer although evidently after Sir Bose did....
4. Short paragraph from J C Bose's letter to Rabindranath Tagore (In context of his 1901 lecture at the Royal Society, 17th May 1901, reproduced):
A short time before my lecture, a multi-millionaire proprietor of a very famous telegraph company
telegraphed me with an urgent request to meet me. I replied that I had no time. In response he said that he is
coming to meet me in person and within a short time he himself arrived with patent forms in hand. He made
an earnest request to me not to divulge all valuable research results in today's lecture : "There is money in it
-- let me take out patent for you. You donot know what money you are throwing away" etc. Of course, " I
will only take half share in the profit -- I will finance it" etc.
This multi-millionaire has come to me like a beggar for making some more profits. Friend, you would have
seen the greed and hankering after money in this country, - money, money - what a terrible all pervasive
greed ! If I once get sucked into this terrible trap, there wont' be any escape ! See, the research that I have
been dedicated to doing, is above commercial profits. I am getting older - I am not getting enough time to do
what I had set out to do -- I refused him.
